Biomolecular Studies

Superfund Basic Research Program

The uncertainties and unknowns surrounding human exposures to hazardous wastes present a huge challenge for decision-makers, especially for those dealing with hazardous waste sites. Accordingly, a basic, mechanistic understanding of the cellular, molecular and biochemical processes that are affected by the exposure to contaminants can enhance the scientific base used in the decision-making process. SBRP supports numerous research projects aimed at understanding the influence of genetic and environmental factors on human health.
