Human studies offer the opportunity to evaluate the potential human health effects resulting from environmental exposure to chemicals. SBRP-funded research projects involving human studies include dose response studies, which study the relationship between a person's exposure to a hazardous substance and their health outcomes; and hazard identification studies, which aim to identify the way in which a chemical behaves within the body and the resulting health effects of exposure to that chemical. Human health studies also help to place information and analyses gathered in a laboratory setting within a human health context.
