The goal of this project is to test the hypothesis that the non-genotoxic carcinogenic activity of environmental contaminants, particularly PCBs, involves alterations in signal transduction pathways central to cell growth and proliferation. To test this hypothesis, effects on the components of cell signaling pathways known to be perturbed during carcinogenesis have been studied in a number of cell culture systems exposed to PCBs.
