Project Summary (1995-2000)

One of the most difficult problems in communicating with citizens and communities about the health risks associated with local hazardous waste sites is to provide information that is comprehensive, comprehensible and trusted. Often, both the government and the responsible parties are perceived as providing tainted information because they have a stake in particular solutions. Journalists, however, have more public trust and the goal of this project is to improve public understanding through education and training of journalists.
