Progress Reports

Year:   2020

The Community Engagement Core (CEC) of the UAB Superfund Research Program (UAB SRP) is focused on ensuring the engagement of local community residents and other stakeholders of North Birmingham, Alabama directly impacted by contaminants in and around the EPA-designated 35th Avenue Superfund site. The team’s progress to date includes the establishment of a community advisory board that informs the activities of the CEC and overall UAB SRP, the distribution of health promotion resources to reduce risk of COVID-19, and the identification of additional community needs and assets. The researchers have established methods of communication between community stakeholders and UAB SRP leaders and are actively securing partnerships and other resources to address community concerns.
