Purpose and Scope of the Workshop
The NIEHS Worker Training Program (WTP) is committed to preventing chronic disease, promoting mental resilience, and improving the overall well-being of the U.S. workforce. This workshop will focus on factors that distinguish WTP as a model program to help workers prevent and navigate work-related physiological or mental health conditions. This workshop is an opportunity for nonprofit organizations, health care and safety professionals, and instructors to discuss training strategies and innovative solutions to improve worker health and well-being.

During this workshop, participants will:

  • Learn about the top chronic health conditions impacting workers in hazardous waste, construction, transportation, health care, emergency response, and other industries across the U.S.
  • Share ideal training strategies and interventions to combat chronic physiological and mental health conditions in workers.
  • Outline the gaps in preventing chronic health conditions in workers, and how training can address those gaps.
  • Develop value statements to support the continual promotion and success of WTP-funded training programs to improve worker health, safety, and well-being across the country.
