The Molecular Pathology Core continues to provide a facility for the scientific evaluation and diagnosis of pathologic alterations at both the cellular and organismal level in animal models of toxicant-induced disease. Over the past funding period, the Core has continued to allow investigators to better understand the mechanisms of chemically-induced disease by applying histopathological, immunohistochemical and immunocytological techniques to their research. In addition, the Core now routinely provides electron microscopy to investigators in the Superfund Basic Research Program for the visualization of nanomaterials and asbestos fibers, and for more routine histological evaluations, SBRP investigators utilize the Aperio Imaging System.
