The American workforce is rapidly changing, driven by new and emerging industries, automation, artificial intelligence, and shifting worker demographics. Collaboration between businesses, educational institutions, and workforce agencies is essential to train and prepare workers for filling gaps and taking on new tasks. Worker health and safety training, such as that supported by WTP, continues to be a crucial point of conversation to address these issues. This workshop will focus on the critical drivers of workforce development, and how training models can adapt to help workers keep skills fresh while staying healthy and safe. This workshop is an opportunity for educators, trainers, economists, and industry experts to share information about shifting industry priorities and to discuss how to keep worker health and wellbeing at the forefront.
Workshop Objectives
- Analyze and Define Workforce Change Drivers: Identify the technological, economic, and demographic trends driving workforce transformation, and explore their specific impacts on training needs and job roles.
- Build and Strengthen Strategic Partnerships: Facilitate interactive sessions and networking opportunities to enhance collaboration among federal agencies, nonprofit organizations, businesses, educational institutions, and training providers to develop responsive workforce development initiatives.
- Develop and Share Adaptable Training Models: Evaluate existing and emerging training models that integrate skill-building with worker health and safety practices, and determine actionable strategies to implement these models across various industries.
