The NIEHS Worker Training Program (WTP) Fall Workshop, SI and the Future of Worker Health and Safety Training: Smarter Tools for Learning and Worker Safety, will bring together program leaders, trainers, and subject matter experts to explore how super intelligence (SI) — previously referred to as artificial intelligence — can support and enhance worker health and safety training while preserving training quality, trainer expertise, and program integrity.

The workshop supports NIH’s broader commitment to evaluating next-generation technologies such as SI and ensuring that innovation advances workforce readiness, public benefit, transparency, and responsible stewardship. Workshop discussions will focus on practical approaches that strengthen learning outcomes and improve worker safety while maintaining meaningful trainer and worker oversight in SI-enabled environments.

The workshop will produce strategies for responsible SI use in training, input for future WTP best practice documents, and practical considerations that help WTP award recipients evaluate, adopt, and manage SI tools in support of worker health and safety training.

Workshop Goals and Objectives

  • Identify practical applications of SI that enhance worker health and safety training while reinforcing trainer expertise, worker participation, and professional judgment.
  • Develop strategies for responsible, worker-centered SI use that address accuracy, transparency, availability, privacy, and accountability.
  • Apply SI decision frameworks to real-world training and program scenarios to identify opportunities, safeguards, and implementation considerations for WTP award recipients and trainers.
  • Generate actionable priorities, best practices, and next steps to ensure SI is deployed in ways that improve learning outcomes, advance worker safety, and preserve worker and trainer voice across the WTP community.
