Meeting Details

The Building Local Capacity and Bridging Training Gaps in Disaster Preparedness and Response for Workers and Communities meeting will be held September 17-18, 2025 from 8:00 a.m. on September 17 to noon EDT on September 18 in Virginia Beach, VA.

Meeting Goals and Objectives:

  • Learn about training conducted, partnerships, and more from NIEHS WTP network who delivered training to populations impacted by recent disasters across the United States and its territories, and specifically in areas near or surrounding the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Learn about resources and technologies being used to address disaster preparedness and response needs for workers and communities in Virginia and other states.
  • Network and enhance connections between NIEHS WTP network, local government, academia, Tribes, and community-based organizations in Virginia and surrounding states who have a vested interest in disaster preparedness and response.
  • Participate in an exercise focused on a local disaster scenario (flooding) and engage in discussions to identify strategies, partners, and tools needed to protect workers and communities during response, cleanup, and recovery.
