Final Progress Reports

Year:   2004

The primary activity of the Biostatistics Core has been to support the design of field studies to investigate biomarkers of exposure.  Dr. B. Mallick designed a sampling scheme for Sumgayit using Bayesian parametric and semiparametric hierarchical models with spatio-temporal effects.  This model has allowed Project 6 investigators to integrate the collection of environmental media with the collection of ecological and human population samples.  Graduate students have also made use of the Biostatistics Core to facilitate the design of the long-term tumor study and for the incorporation of environmental data into risk characterization.  Future plans for the Biostatistics Core include support for ecological studies at Superfund sites in Region 10 and Region 6.
