Final Progress Reports

Year:   2016  2004

The Administrative Core continued to make significant progress in year five.  The Center’s web site was recently updated with project descriptions, publications for each project, and faculty, staff and student contact information.  The site also contains the most current schedules for the Core’s bi-annual seminars and symposia.  The Core continues to distribute the Center’s brochure at various professional meetings including SOT and SETAC.

The Center’s manager worked closely with Dr. Ed Levin, PI of the Training Core, to organize the logistics for the Core’s weekly seminar series and semiannual symposia.  In addition, she continues to work closely with students to ensure that they are complying with University and Program guidelines.

The Administrative Core’s external review committee is scheduled to meet April of 2005.  This meeting will give the Core the opportunity to review the progress of each project and core, and to discuss the future of the Center.  This meeting, along with the monthly “chalk talk” sessions, continues to prove valuable in developing further collaborations, research approaches, and fostering group discussion.

The Superfund manager attended the administrators meeting at the SBRP Annual Conference, which was held in Seattle, WA in November of 2004.  Over the course of the two-day business meeting, administrators from several Superfund Centers collaborated on ideas to further develop the Program.  Dr. Richard Di Giulio, Program Director and PI of Project 4, attended the Conference in addition to three graduate students, one of which was awarded the best poster presentation award for his poster entitled, “2,3,7,8-Tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) induces organ-specific differential gene expression in male Japanese medaka (Oryzias latipes)" by David C. Volz, David C. Bencic, David E. Hinton, J. McHugh Law, and Seth W. Kullman.
