Researchers at the University of Kentucky SRP Center created new membranes that can deactivate SARS-CoV-2 on contact, preventing the spread of COVID-19. The membranes combine nanotechnology with antiviral substances, creating a material that can capture coronavirus-sized particles and effectively neutralize them.
According to the team, these sophisticated materials also filter the virus from indoor air and may help reduce the transmission of SARS-CoV-2 and other viruses.
