Mónica D. Ramírez-Andreotta, Ph.D., at the University of Arizona SRP Center is interviewed by Ashley Ahearn for the NIEHS podcast where she discusses the role and impacts of participatory research. Dr. Ramírez-Andreotta's started Grassroots, a community science project, where she trained community members to collect soil, water, and plant samples for analysis. Community members decided what samples to collect and steered the course of research.
In the podcast, she describes participatory research while emphasizing listing structural change as a goal and urging scientists to embrace a systems thinking approach.
