Project Summary (1995-2000)

This outreach and training program pursues several objectives. Development of medical faculty capable of teaching pediatric environmental health to pediatric/family medicine residents, and nurse practitioners is being pursued. Definition of research needs in terms of children and exposure to toxic substances is being addressed. Encouragement of interdisciplinary collaboration on the educational, research and policy issues in pediatric environmental health through meetings and national conferences is another component. This network also maintains an interdisciplinary and multicultural national network of organizations and individuals dedicated to identifying ways, via clinical practice, education, research, and policy to prevent child exposures to environmental hazards.
