Project Summary (1995-2000)

The focus of this project is on evaluating factors that affect the formation, morphology, stability, and removal of non-aqueous phase liquids (NAPL) residual in heterogeneous porous media systems. Small- and intermediate-scale experimentation, and large-scale computational approaches are being used in these studies. Consideration is being given to dissolution fingering, and emulsion formation and transport during surfactant-enhanced remediation.
