Project Summary (2000-2005)
The Image Analysis and Bioassays Core supports program investigators in five SBRP research projects at Texas A&M. Researchers utilize non-invasive imaging tools using biosensors and biomarkers for defining the function of living cells and tissues. Functional endpoints include assessment of intracellular glutathione, pH and Ca
2+ homeostasis, intercellular communication, and GFP-tagged protein expression. Microscopy support with digital image acquisition and analysis for
in situ hybridization and immunocytochemistry are provided as well. The Core also provides the interface with Field Services and Analytical Services Cores to receive and/or distribute samples for endocrine disruptor, genotoxicity, or pollutant-sensitive bioassays.
