Project Summary (2000-2006)

Training future scientists to address the challenges presented by complex problems at Superfund waste sites requires a multidisciplinary educational environment with exposure to biomedical sciences, engineering and remediation technologies. The Training Core emphasizes the importance of this multidisciplinary approach by encouraging trainees to take courses in areas outside their respective disciplines and to work on research projects that cut across disciplinary boundaries. This emphasis on multidisciplinary education ensures that graduates are well prepared to meet the challenges posed in hazardous waste clean-up.
